Xtreme Barrel Pulling involves the following: a daring individual like myself, a Gator, and a traffic barrel. Aaron and I went to another couple's house and we took turns riding inside of the barrel while being pulled behind the gator through fields of snow. If you want a crazy ride, try stuffing yourself all the way inside, head first, so you can't see where you're going. You learn to trust people that way. Kind of like in 2nd grade when you had to do trust exercises like leading someone around the gym while they were blindfolded. I actually led my person into a wall to be funny so I know about trusting people. I don't usually, which in this instance turned out to be smart. The fun ended when Aaron was driving the gator (uh oh) and Travis was being pulled around the pond and the barrel started rolling down the rocky hill into the pond (with Travis unable to see what was happening). That officially marked the beginning of a quiet movie night indoors.
This is a picture of me in the barrel. Good times.
My second attempt at winter sports was this past weekend. Me, Aaron, Stacey (aka Big Schro fo sho), and Benny went to Boone and stayed in an awesome rustic cabin. Saturday evening we decided to do something outdoors. The idea of skiing came up but we decided against it, thank goodness because I am not feeling the idea of sliding downhill on sticks....
We finally agreed to go snow-tubing. We called up one place and they gave us a reference to check out a certain location. We called the snow-tubing place and they told us to get there soon to buy tickets ahead of time because the sessions were selling out fast. So we hopped in the car, bought the tickets, and went to dinner. After dinner, we got to the tubing place and realized that it was definitely more of a kiddie attraction.
The boys tried to make the most of it by running half a mile for a good head start to go really fast down the 2 second hill. Whoo! Great fun.
Below is a picture of me from their website...there was a photographer taking pics of people sliding down so I decided to throw him the peace sign.
